With rising housing and food costs, low-income people are losing the economic power to purchase healthy food critical to their wellbeing.
In fact, 44% of low-income San Franciscans cannot afford healthy food and many live in neighborhoods where fresh produce is not even available.
EatSF is changing that.
EatSF’s free fruit and vegetable vouchers provide low-income residents with crucial resources to purchase healthy foods befitting of their culture and lifestyle, but also addresses food deserts by supporting the ability of local retailers to stock fresh produce – resulting in all around more healthy and vibrant communities.
EatSF envisions a world where all people, in all neighborhoods, can enjoy fruits and vegetables from their local market. Listen to Arthur discuss the ways in which EatSF has changed how he makes day-to-day healthy food choices that help him manage his diabetes.
